About SAR GIL
The South Asia Region Gender Innovation Lab (SAR GIL) is a World Bank initiative that aims to influence policies and programs in South Asia by providing evidence on ¡°what works¡± to enhance gender equality and women¡¯s economic empowerment in the region. The Lab is part of the World Bank¡¯s Federation of Gender Innovation Labs (GILs), comprised of six regional programs, each representing one of the World Bank¡¯s geographic regions.
What does SAR GIL do?
SAR GIL generates and disseminates knowledge and evidence and facilitates their uptake in policies and programs. Evidence is generated through rigorous research, including impact evaluations and inferential studies. This knowledge, along with evidence from other sources, is curated and disseminated to key stakeholders to facilitate their uptake in the development and reform of laws, policies, programs, and projects in South Asia.

Partners and donors
The Lab is supported by the Umbrella Facility for Gender Equality (UFGE) of the World Bank in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The Lab previously benefited from years of support provided by Australia¡¯s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) through the South Asia Regional Trade Facilitation Program (SARTFP).
