The Health Works Leaders Coalition is a high-level platform in response to the urgent need for stronger, more sustainable health systems worldwide. It aims to accelerate reforms in primary care, health financing, regulation, and workforce development.
Chaired by World Bank Group President Ajay Banga and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Coalition brings together global and national leaders from governments, the private sector, philanthropies, and civil society to catalyze political will and align actions for better health outcomes and economic growth.
The Coalition¡¯s primary objectives are to raise ambition for health investment, support country-led reform efforts through the development and financing of country compacts, and foster knowledge sharing and alignment among stakeholders. It will function as a focused, time-bound platform through 2025¡ªdriving momentum in the lead-up to the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Forum in Japan, co-hosted by the Government of Japan, the World Bank, and WHO.
Members commit to leading by example, advocating for greater investment in health, and advising on key initiatives ahead of the UHC Forum. The Coalition encourages action through three channels:
- Commit¡ªby contributing resources or reforms;
- Advocate¡ªby building support at the national and global level; and
- Advise¡ªby guiding the direction of collaborative efforts.
ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº Group serves as secretariat, coordinating members' efforts and providing technical support.
The Coalition is not a funding mechanism but a coordinated effort to drive bold, high-impact action on health reform globally.
