World Bank Appoints Carlos Felipe Jaramillo as Vice President for East Asia and Pacific

SINGAPORE, September 15, 2025 ¡ª ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº Group has appointed Carlos Felipe Jaramillo as Vice President for the East Asia and Pacific (EAP) Region, effective September 15, 2025.

Jaramillo brings over two decades of proven leadership across multiple regions and global practices, positioning him to drive the Bank's jobs-focused development agenda in one of the world's most dynamic regions.

As EAP Vice President, Jaramillo will oversee partnerships with 23 countries and manage an active portfolio exceeding US$32 billion. Jaramillo will be based in Singapore, which will serve as the new regional hub for the EAP region, in line with the World Bank¡¯s decentralization to be closer to clients and enhance service delivery.

As Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean since 2020, Jaramillo led the Bank¡¯s engagement with 31 countries across the region, overseeing a portfolio of US$41.5 billion in ongoing operations. Earlier, as Division Director for Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda, he managed over 80 projects worth more than US$12 billion, and led the Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice.

Before joining the Bank, Jaramillo held senior roles in the Government of Colombia. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in development economics from Stanford University.
