Jorge Coarasa is the World Bank's Operations Manager for Brazil.?

Mr. Coarasa, a Mexican national, joined the IFC in 2010 as Policy Officer for the Health in Africa Initiative in Nairobi, Kenya and moved to the IBRD in 2015. He has since held various positions including Senior Economist for HNP (Health, Nutrition and Population) in South Asia and MENA and Human Development Program Leader for India. His most recent assignment was Lead Economist and People Program Leader for the Maghreb countries, based in Rabat, Morocco.

In his new position, Mr. Coarasa¡¯s top three priorities will be (i) managing IBRD¡¯s overall operational portfolio within Brazil, with federal, state and municipal governments as well as with development banks; (ii) leading the country dialogue around portfolio issues, including with the External Financing Committee and through the annual Country Portfolio Performance Review; and (iii) facilitating close operational collaboration with IFC and MIGA around private capital mobilization for development.?

Jorge holds degrees in Economics from ITAM, International Relations from the Complutense University of Madrid, and Public Administration from Harvard University.
