ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº; in collaboration with the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA); seeks a multidisciplinary firm to assess the soil carbon sequestration potential and socio-economic readiness for carbon projects in two protected areas of Mpumalanga: Songimvelo and Manyeleti Nature Reserves. The assignment will (i) generate robust; IPCC-aligned soil organic carbon (SOC) baselines through field sampling; laboratory analysis; and geospatial modeling; and evaluate the technical feasibility of registering carbon credits; and (ii) conduct a comprehensive stakeholder and community engagement assessment to determine willingness; capacity; governance arrangements; and benefit-sharing options for implementing carbon sequestration activities. Outputs include an inception report; field and QA/QC report; SOC & feasibility report; stakeholder readiness report; carbon valuation brief; a final synthesis report; and dissemination materials. The contract duration is seven months; with milestone-based payments tied to accepted deliverables. Firms must demonstrate strong technical capacity in soil science; carbon accounting/MRV; GIS/remote sensing; environmental economics; and participatory social research in South Africa or comparable contexts.
