We Fund Climate is a 12-month engagement designed to support 10-15 early-stage venture capital (VC) funds investing in cleantech startups operating in emerging and developing markets. As part of IFC¡¯s broader She Wins Climate platform; the program aims to expand access to capital for women-led cleantech startups by equipping VCs with the knowledge and tools to implement gender-lens strategies across their portfolios and within their firms. Participating funds engage in structured capacity-building that combines peer-to-peer learning; hands-on exercises; and expert guidance. The program begins with a diagnostic to assess each fund¡¯s existing approach to gender-lens investing. Over the course of the program; fund managers will explore both the ¡°what¡± and the ¡°why¡± of gender-lens investing; and then how to operationalize it across deal sourcing; due diligence; portfolio management; and internal firm policies. Participants also benefit from a collaborative cohort of fund peers (including program alumni); IFC specialists; and ecosystem leaders. The program culminates in each fund developing a tailored Gender and Climate Action Plan; which outlines specific commitments and implementation steps customized according to each fund¡¯s context and goals. We Fund Climate strengthens the supply side of early-stage capital to better meet the demand from women-led climate startups; helping drive more inclusive climate investment across emerging and developing markets
