The Jobs Umbrella Multi-Donor Trust Fund (Jobs MDTF) provides resources for countries to put jobs at the center of their development strategies. It supports the design of the new Country Growth and Jobs Report series, expands access to labor market data through the Global Labor Database, and pilots innovative approaches on gender, youth employment, migration, informality, and the sustainable transition. This work informs policy dialogue, shapes World Bank Group operations, and strengthens the tools we use to measure and track employment outcomes across the portfolio.
Launched to consolidate efforts across global stakeholders, the Jobs MDTF provides a unified platform for designing transformative jobs strategies and advancing knowledge on effective policies—especially those that expand opportunities for women and youth.
This initiative harnesses World Bank financing and convening power to deliver results at scale. Since 2014, the fund has financed 140 grants with $ 68 million dollars raised to date.
The Jobs MDTF operates through three windows:
- Lending – supports project design and policy prioritization to maximize impact on jobs;
- Measurement – curates internationally comparable jobs data to enable evidence-based jobs strategies; and
- Partnerships & Innovation – promotes capacity building and policy coordination by bringing together key stakeholders and accelerating cutting-edge solutions to emerging jobs challenges.
