Philanthropic Partners can engage with us in a number of ways:
- Financing: We offer a wide range of co-investment opportunities—from partner grant contributions to commercial investments. Trust funds are the most commonly used tool for partners to provide catalytic funding that supports development assistance, technical expertise, and knowledge products. Foundations can also help scale blended finance structures to unlock private sector investment, as well as participate in outcome-based financing. We have introduced several new innovative financial instruments, including: hybrid capital, which expands our lending capacity; and The Livable Planet Fund, which incentivizes middle-income countries to address global challenges with cross-border benefits, such as climate change mitigation and digital transformation.
- Knowledge: As a Knowledge Bank and through our new , we provide advisory services to governments and share expertise with partners to accelerate development, boost economies, and create jobs. Working closely with philanthropy and utilizing their technical and geographical expertise helps ensure our clients have access to the best development knowledge and solutions.
- Advocacy: Â Philanthropy has been pivotal in unlocking critical financial resources, increasing visibility, and enabling faster implementation at the country level across several sectors. These contributions have been instrumental in advancing initiatives like Mission 300 and supporting the .

Access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy is critical for powering economies, delivering essential services, and spurring job creation for Africa’s growing population. With nearly 600 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa living without access to electricity, Mission 300 is an ambitious initiative to connect 300 million people to electricity in the region by 2030.
